A project begun in 2025, the The Galisteo Artists’ Project is a multifaceted effort to document, celebrate, and preserve the vibrant and evolving history of the art community in Galisteo, New Mexico. Through written accounts, recorded interviews, and video storytelling, we are capturing the voices, memories, and experiences of the artists, creatives, and residents who have lived, worked, and shaped the artistic legacy of our unique village. Interviews are conducted with long-time residents and will weave together personal narratives that offer insight into how Galisteo became and continues to be a vital hub for creativity in northern New Mexico. The resulting collection—consisting of oral histories, written memoirs, archival footage, and contemporary video profiles—will be made available to the public through our website, printed material, and digital platforms. By grounding this effort in the voices of those who’ve lived it, we aim to create not just an archive, but a living legacy for future generations.
