KRISTIN EAGER KILLION

Kristin Eager Killion has lived and worked as an artist in Paris, France; Washington, DC and Galisteo, New Mexico. Her work has appeared in solo and group shows at international exhibitions, museums, galleries and embassies worldwide and is held in esteemed private collections. Her creations include a collection of intricate sculptures and wall art, as well as a line of high-end jewelry and handbags made from champagne caps and boxes. Using art as a tool for exchange and dialogue, Kristin collaborated with Spanish Fashion Designer, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, exhibiting in her Paris, Madrid and New York boutiques and highlighting the profound links between fashion and art. At “Regards Croisés: France – Russie – Etats-Unis”, she presented art as a transformative tool that can serve as a conduit between countries and cultures.

“In all things,” she writes, “I try to recognize the unlovely as the lovely disguised. As an artist, I seek to make something from what seems to be nothing; a discarded box, old clothing, broken glass, or reflector lights…the list is endless. What I love about working with found objects is that the seemingly useless becomes useful; discarded items breathe a new life…. The continual search for new meaning, definitions and identity in discarded items can be defined as the foundation of my work. I have always been drawn to the idea of renewal and rebirth and I love combining the mundane with the unexpected. I like to play with and even challenge the question of what constitutes ‘value’ in an object.”

Since moving to Galisteo in 2018, Kristin has birthed a new body of work entitled “Tumblers and Trees” where she plays with the transformation of local flora after it becomes brittle and blows away from its roots.
